Turnbull's feat still unmatched 30 years later

Although historic Maple Leaf Gardens sits vacated almost eight years after hosting its final NHL game, it is rather easy to remember the roar that echoed through the fabled arena 30 years ago tonight.

Those special roars were a little more common at the Gardens in a 51-week span between Feb. 7, 1976 and Feb. 2, 1977. During that time, Darryl Sittler, captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, established an NHL record with 10 points (six goals and four assists) in a regular-season game against the Boston Bruins. Sittler then tied a league playoff mark by scoring five goals in a quarterfinal game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
