Newbury listed as day-to-day
Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Kris Newbury was released from hospital yesterday with "no neurological issues," according to Leafs general manager John Ferguson.
Newbury suffered a head injury in a third-period fight in the Leafs' 6-5 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday evening, when the youngster absorbed three hard right-hand punches from Penguins winger Ronald Petrovicky, dropping the Toronto forward, who smacked the back of his head on the ice.
Immediately, the two linesmen waved Leafs therapist Rudy Cantu to the scene in front of the penalty box at Air Canada Centre, across the ice from the Toronto bench.
