Ferguson bides his time

Mats Sundin celebrates his 36th birthday Tuesday, and inquiring minds want to know how long the affable Swede plans to continue playing in the National Hockey League.

The Toronto Maple Leafs' captain responded by saying he'll continue to play as long as his body allows him to perform at an elite level and as long as he is having fun.

The fun part of the equation could improve considerably if the Maple Leafs are successful in their playoff run over the next 54 days. But what is the best way for Toronto general manager John Ferguson to make this happen with the trade deadline arriving two weeks from Tuesday?
