Hockey twins leagues apart

They shared the Great Canadian Dream growing up and playing ball hockey on the streets of north Etobicoke – shared it more tightly than most.

As identical twins born to Fernando Colaiacovo, an Italian-born marble cutter, and his wife Rita on Jan.27, 1983, sons Carlo and Paulo both caught the hockey bug as youngsters, felt the pain when their Maple Leafs heroes lost to L.A. in the '93 playoffs and all the while imagined wonderful futures together in the game.

Tonight, about a 25-minute drive from his parents' home, Carlo Colaiacovo will be part of the NHL's marquee matchup on Hockey Night In Canada, a Toronto boy playing in his hometown as a regular for the Leafs as they try to foil the offensive machinations of burgeoning legend Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
