Leafs try to ignore Flyers' record

It can be dismissed as a motivational gimmick but the Toronto Maple Leafs insist the Philadelphia Flyers are a formidable opponent.

Forget their 15-33-8 record and standing as the worst team in the National Hockey League, the Leafs say. These guys have to be taken seriously when the Leafs play them on Thursday night.

"You put their lineup on the board and you wonder how they got to the situation they did," Leafs head coach Paul Maurice said after Tuesday morning's game-day skate. "They had horrible injuries and they struggled with their goalies.
