Hockey friendship has its limits
If you're watching the latest instalment of the Battle of Ontario Saturday night, you may notice Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Andrew Raycroft laying a little extra lumber on Ottawa Senators forward Mike Fisher, or Fisher winking at Raycroft if he scores.
The two have had a long rivalry that dates back to their days in minor hockey when Fisher lined up for Peterborough and Raycroft guarded the net for Quinte, and they became close friends when they both found themselves in their rookie season with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League almost a decade ago.
They played another year in Sudbury together before Fisher made the jump to the Senators and Raycroft remained in junior for one final season with the 1999-2000 Kingston Frontenacs. But they have remained close, even when Raycroft began his National Hockey League career with the Senators' Northeast Division rival, the Boston Bruins.
